Below are our recent landscape gardening projects completed in Bournemouth, Poole and the surrounding areas:

Design & Build - Broadstone

The owners of this property wanted an additional seating/dining area where they could enjoy their mature garden.

The existing area was a mix of concrete and lawn and the plan was to build a raised deck area using Millboard composite deck boards, with a contemporary framed pergola over and an outdoor bbq/kitchen area.

We also installed horizontal slatted fencing along the adjoining boundary to complement the space.

The project was completed on time and on budget.

Design & Build - Wimborne

There were various aspects/areas to this job to enhance the garden of a period cottage.

We were tasked with building a new patio area and paths, a vegetable bed area and a bespoke built roofed pergola/outdoor dining area.

There was not really any outdoor patio area, just a path around the back, so we excavated back into the garden to create a 'sunken' patio area. This involved building retaining brick walling with steps and laying sandstone paving with integrated drainage. We also layed new paths around the property to the front door.

There was a fairly large area of overgrown scrub which we cleared and built new sleeper raised beds for growing vegetables.

Finally, we built a cedar shingle roofed pergola with built-in BBQ area for outdoor dining. The roof pitch exactly matched the pitch of the house roof and complemented the adjoining buildings perfectly.

The project was completed on time and on budget.

"We are super happy with our garden build. Chris, Matt and the team are professional, engaging, knowledgable and ensure top quality work. At the outset they bought into our ideas and worked with us along the way to bring the vision to life. Their fixed price approach to work was an attraction for us and we found them true to their word. We definitely recommend them."

Design & Build - Southbourne

The brief for this project was Bali in a garden. A preliminary plan had already been drawn up from which we just made a few tweaks.

The existing garden was very unpractical for a young family, with a patio area too small for a table and chairs and a raised grass area not really big enough to be useable.

We excavated the raised section of garden and extended 2 boundaries to create a larger, level area of garden. We then laid blockwork to retain the new boundaries on 3 sides and create the split level raised beds which were then rendered.

We closed off the boundaries by re-using the existing closeboard fencing and installed horizontal slatted screening on the inside of that fencing to create a more contemporary look.

We laid wood-effect porcelain paving slabs to achieve the desired look and provide a maintenance-free surface, and installed 'hangmen' timbers to create some vertical interest. Using the same timber, we also made a 'floating' bench seat.

Finally, we selected and planted tropical style planting to really set-off the garden and give the desired look with spike lighting in the beds for night-time ambience.

The project was completed on time and on budget.

Design & Build - Bournemouth

This was a large garden with a very old patio and a lawn that had seen better days. It was in need of updating to suit the needs of a young family.

We came-up with a design and plan through chatting with the clients.

We began by stripping/excavating everything to start again with a blank canvas including levelling the sloping lawn. We then laid a new block wall to retain the edge of the patio to include wide steps leading down into the garden which we rendered.

We laid a large area of porcelain paving both to the upper patio area to the back of the house and the lower patio along the left-hand-side boundary. Under a section of the lower patio, we laid a concrete base to reinforce the area for a hot tub. Within this area we also installed a bespoke chunky 'pergola' to add vertical interest and the possibility of shading/shelter.

The rest of the garden was then laid to lawn with a sectioned-off kids play area at the back. We finished by planting the raised bed and bringing in pots planted with low maintenance plants.

The project was completed on time and on budget.

Design & Build - Highcliffe

This family had a corner of their garden which was totally unusable and not very attractive - a sloping mound of earth which was mainly just retaining the ground of the neighbour's gardens.

They wanted to create a relaxing and entertaining area which included a hot tub. This involved a fairly extensive dig-out to remove the mound, lay new concrete footings and build a substantial concrete block wall which was rendered and incorporated a planting bed and lighting.

We screened the neighbouring fences with horizontal slats to give a contemporary feel and then built a Millboard composite deck in front. Within the deck design is a concrete pad for the hot tub so that it is part-sunk with access panels in the decking and integrated lighting.

The project was completed on time and on budget.

"BH Garden Solutions were great to work with from start to finish. Matt, Chris and the team working on the project were very flexible, adjusting plans along the way as needed with lots of attention to detail. Matt and Chris were always available to discuss progress on the project. The site was left clean and tidy at the end of every day and the end result was excellent."
